Meet The My Element Fitness Crew
My Element is excited to be bringing you some of the best trainers we have here in Powell River. Their experience and expertise in the fitness industry over the years has given each of them profound insight into the human body, into core connection, into what truly helps an individual and what doesn’t, and most importantly what is best for YOU, as an individual. It is of utmost importance to me that you feel safe. I am confidant each one of these trainers will take YOU into account, will watch you closely, will never make a situation unsafe for you, and will encourage you and support you exactly where you are at.
You will always be put first at My Element and we will be watching you closely, ensuring you are having the best, and safest, time possible as you grow, strengthen and reach your goals!

She has certifications in kettle bells, TRX , and too many more to list. But, it’s not just her experience but it’s Darlana’s energy what you usually hear about first:) this woman rocks the 6:00am Rip N Row classes because her energy and positivity is contagious. She’s a beautiful soul, inside and out, and will work your butt off with a smile:) We are honoured to have her on the team!!
I am a people person and my love for people and fascination with the intricate symbiotic relationship of the body, mind and spirit is what brought me to health and wellness.
In 2006 I began my transition from a 7-year career as a facilitator of customer service to the healing arts. I graduated from the Vancouver School of Bodywork and Massage as a Spa Practitioner in 2007 and deepened my studies into Shiatsu with Fernando Cabrera immediately after graduating. I am also a practitioner of Reiki (Level 1 & 2 from the Usui Shiki Ryoho lineage). I enjoy facilitating and decided to teach what I love in addition to offering Reiki and bodywork. In June 2008 I graduated from Open Door Yoga as a yoga instructor (RYT200) and am slowly working towards RYT500. I facilitate a variety of classes; from Hatha, flow, restorative as well as laughter and kids yoga and recently have been collaborating to create and offer Rowga (a rowing/yoga combination). The thing I love the most about what I offer is the empowerment of being connected to your body and your breath.

I’m interested in sharing the radical wisdom of yoga, the mind (and body) bending of functional movement and the empowerment of being present in your body and mind, in and out of the gym/studio.
I’ve always been drawn to movement. As a kid it was gymnastics, skating and dance, then came “going to the gym” using mostly workout machines. I’ve trained for a few half marathons and have gone through a stint of over exercising and training that drained my whole system and relationship with my body. I’m telling you all of this cause I feel I’ve had a taste of a lot and now with aging on my plate, my perspective on movement and fitness has changed yet again. I want to future proof my body.
My passion lies in helping students develop their own self-awareness, and a deep sense of self-compassion, opening up for new possibilities, choices and change.
I have an extensive background in Yoga, with Teacher Trainings in multiple disciplines. It is my hope to engage students to reach for their full potential with my clear, powerful and playful approach. I have been a full time yoga teacher for more than 10 years and I am currently finishing a two year training as a Yoga Therapy Practitioner.
“I believe the body is wondrously created to play and move and heal through movement.”
